This blog is the work of Natalie Eldred
I studied Fine Art at Exeter College of Art in the nineties, then trained as a Design Technology teacher in 2004 after having spent a few years as a freelance model maker in Bristol working for Limbs ‘n Things Ltd, Bumper Films and Aardman Animations. In 2013-2016 I fulfilled a life long ambition to study illustration.
The aim of this site is to document and record my journey as an artist/illustrator from the point at which I began studying on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration in 2013. I have always intended this blog to be about the journey rather than a portfolio of only my best work. There is exploratory work here, good work and not so good work – because I feel it’s valuable to share process rather than just product. I feel I learn from others who do this and hopefully other people can learn and gain encouragement from seeing my process too. Here I am, warts and all. If you want to see only my more professional ‘show-off’ work then please visit www.natalieeldred.uk
This blog is my journey towards becoming a better artist/illustrator (and human being) whilst also living a regular sort of life earning money, raising children and trying to have fun along the way.
